In the early 1900s Films had started their production though they didn't have colorgand unsynchronized sound. This new invention of moving pictures must have seemed like magic to the audiences. The first films started at only 2 minutes but soon evolved into a 20 minute film. In 1927 the film "The Jazz Singers" was released which featured synchronized sounds for the first time. The 1930s came and many horror themed movies were released. Disney which had been in the Film industry since 1920s and worked on animated films rather than live footage started to grow bigger in the 1940s by releasing many different animated films such as Pinocchio and Bambi. Melvin Van Peebles a man who got rejected by Hollywood heard that France was subsidizing filmmakers so he moved to France, learned the language and started making movies. After some time Melvin got Hollywood's attention and Colombia pictures funded him to make "Watermelon Man" however studios were still not giving Melvin authority over the full projects as they thought it wouldn't sell well but were proven wrong by “Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song,” release in 1971 which grossed $10,000,000. in 1981 MTV was launched and took the film industry by storm by releasing music videos and short films.
