What is Representation?
Representation is how media portrays different social groups in a stereotypical way. It also portrays the problems related to those groups in real life and brings them in attention of the audiences.Social Groups:
A social group can be specified as Age, Gender, Race or even Class. Each social group has different objectives and interests. Representation of social groups is very important since absence of representation can give any social group a bad reputation. Females weren't given many important roles and mainly presented as weak and fragile but media received a lot of backlash and hence females were given many major roles such as heroines and protagonists.
Social Issues:
These Social groups also come with their own set of problems and they should also brought in attention of the public to raise awareness against them. Media addresses many problems by presenting them through different characters. Depression is one of the major social issues often represented through teens as they pile up stress from their school life and personal issues.
